Anthony Joe Cook, of Baileyton, Alabama, passed away on November 9, 2025, at the age of 65. Mr. Cook was born on October 7, 1960, to the late Troy Cook and Billie Joyce Robertson Cook.
Mr. Cook is preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Edward Cook; sister, Deborah Gail Loyd; brother-in-law, Roger Dale Maze; as well as a host of aunts and uncles.
Those left to cherish Anthony’s memory includes his siblings, Darryl Ray Cook, Richard Jason Cook, Rhonda Maze; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Upon receiving his diploma from Fairview High School, Anthony enlisted in the United States Army. Mr. Cook served his nation honorably and his willingness to defend his nation and its people is deeply appreciated. Mr. Cook was a truck driver for many years, and he loved his time on the road. After retiring from the transportation industry, Anthony went to work for the Alabama Department of Transportation where he helped maintain the roadways he traveled for many years.
Mr. Cook was a collector of tools and guns. He had every imaginable tool and was prepared for any situation he might need to use them in. He also collected guns. Anthony had a passion for keeping family heirlooms restored and he made sure that family keepsakes were treasured, including firearms that had been passed down for many generations.
Anthony was an avid Alabama fan, and he never missed an opportunity to cheer for his beloved Crimson Tide. In his spare time, Anthony enjoyed fishing. Mr. Cook had a special place in his heart for children and dogs as well.
As a tenderhearted and gentle man, Mr. Cook was a helper at heart who offered encouragement or a helping hand to anyone who needed a friend. Anthony protected and cherished his sister, Rhonda, from an early age. Mr. Cook was given the task of watching the baby for his mother and an inseparable bond between big brother and little sister was formed. Anthony loved all his siblings and family, but the friendship he had with Rhonda was truly special.
A kind and compassionate giant, Anthony’s legacy of family and love of others will be remembered for generations to come, and he will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
Funeral services for Anthony will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., with Dalton Robertson officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the Cook family prior to services, from 12 noon until services begin. All services will be held in the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow services as Anthony is laid to rest in Brooklyn Cemetery where Darryl Cook, Jason Cook, Josh Nunnelley, Yancy Taylor, Chuck Loyd, and Billy Sinyard will serve as pallbearers.
