Arvel Richard Pruitt, Jr.

Arvel Richard Pruitt, Jr., of Joppa, Alabama, passed away on August 15, 2023, at the age of 49. Mr. Pruitt was born in Indiana, on August 24, 1973, to Arvel Richard Pruitt, Sr., and Terri Pruitt (Szpakowski).

Richie was a sweetheart. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone who might appear to need it more than he did. He was willing to sacrifice of himself in order to help others. Richie spent his life striving to be the kindest person possible, and he achieved that goal. He was a special man, and he will be greatly missed.

Mr. Pruitt is preceded in death by his grandmother, Polly Shelby, father-in-law, Clifford Ronk, Jr., and aunt, Charlotte Shanks and uncle, Roger Shanks.

Those surviving Richie include his wife, Bernadette Pruitt; parents, Arvel Richard Pruitt, Sr., and Terri (Szpakowski) Pruitt; children, Timothy, Josephine, Stella Westmoreland, Brianna Lobins; sisters, Crystal Risner (Jack), Angelina Jaime (Bobby); grandparents, Shelba and Dean Weiler; nieces and nephews, Veronica and Ryan Bedwell and Alina, Bobby, Anaya and Aislynn Jaime; numerous aunts and uncles; mother-in-law, Carole Ronk; and three friends who were like brothers to him, Dave Davey, Gerald Baskin, and William Campbell.

A celebration of life will be held by the Pruitt family at a later time.
