Dorothy Allen Widner Legg, 90, of Cullman, Alabama, passed away on July 27, 2022, in Cullman, Alabama. She was born in Etowah County, Alabama, on September 22, 1931, to James Kader and Victoria Lett Allen.
“De-Dot,” as Mrs. Dot was lovingly called by her family, worked as a poultry farmer for many years, and for King Edward as well. She enjoyed flowers and she loved to garden. Dot was a member of Welcome Baptist Church and enjoyed worshiping her Heavenly Father with her friends and neighbors.
Mrs. Legg is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Afton “Kite” Widner and Carl Legg; brothers, Beamon Allen, J.C. Allen, J.K. Allen, Jr.; sisters, Elowea Cole, Lee Botchner, Vera Joy, Belle Allred, and Lora Mae McGuire.
Dot is survived by her stepchildren, Steven (Debbie) Legg, Debbie Schrock, Donna Legg; sister, Era Bush; sister-in-law, Vena Widner; nephews, Richard (Kandy) Widner, Philip (Lynda) Widner; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Dot are 4 p.m., Sunday, July 31, 2022, at Welcome Baptist Church, Bro. Jerry Lake officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the church from 2 p.m., until services begin. Burial will follow services in Etha Cemetery where Ethan Widner, Dillon Widner, Philip Widner, Richard Widner, Johnathan Ralph, and Drew Knop will serve as pallbearers alongside honorary pallbearers, Ed Pittman, Fred Trevino, and Daryl Graham.
