Edgar E. Skeens, Jr.
May 16, 1952 – October 3, 2018
Edgar E. Skeens, Jr., better known as Big Eddie, age 66, of Cullman passed away on Wednesday.
Big Eddie was born in Jackson, Ohio to Edgar E. Skeens, Sr. and Maxine Schurlock Skeens. He has worked as a truck driver for Littrell Brothers Lumber Company since 1994. He was an avid Alabama football fan, loved dirt track racing, and loved playing Virtual Reality Poker or with his drone. Big Eddie was a very talented wood worker where he made beds, cradles, rocking horses, entertainment centers, picnic tables, and much more. You could always find him eating Little Debbie cakes, jalapeño cheese, or his favorite meal noodles with tomato juice and sugar.
Big Eddie was just a big kid with an even bigger heart; his love for Debbie was overwhelming. He loved her, the kids, and the grandkids more than anything in the world. Anything they wanted he bought, he sent flowers for no reason, and would often be dancing in the church parking lot with Debbie. Big Eddie was a great manager of his love and time; giving them both freely and knowing how to love and forgive. He loved Jesus and was a member of Center Point Baptist Church.
Big Eddie is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Skeens; and sister, Joyce Skeens.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie Guisto Skeens; sons, Duke (Tammy) Skeens of Ohio and Edgar Skeens, III of Georgia; daughters, Malissa Skeens of Cullman, Amber (Michael) Evans of Georgia, Beth (Don) Slocumb, and Susie (Derrick) Strength; brothers, Johnny Skeens and Joe Skeens; sisters, Leona King and Kathy Larson; sisters-in-law, Terry Attaway and Kathy Cady; ten grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2018. Burial will follow in Center Point Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 noon until service time.
Holly Pond Funeral Home is honored to serve the Skeens family.
