Eva Lee “Lesa” Edwards

Eva Lee “Lesa” Edwards, 65, of Holly Pond, entered into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on Monday morning, August 10, 2020. She was born in Dyersburg, Tennessee, on October 13, 1954, to David Lee Stephens and Joan G. Gourley.

Lesa loved to draw and was also gifted in interior design. Everything she touched became beautiful. She loved animals and had a special adoration of horses and dogs. Lesa’s beloved companion, Baxter, passed away two weeks prior to her passing. Baxter was much more than a dog, he was her four legged best friend. Lesa had a green thumb, as was seen in her horticulture skills, and she loved beautiful plants and flowers. Music was also an important part of Lesa’s life. She loved to sing, and Lesa made certain she never missed an opportunity to wish those she loved a Happy Birthday by singing “Happy Birthday” to them. Lesa never met a stranger and when she loved, she loved you big. She loved her family, whether you were blood related or not. Lesa was “Nana” to her grandbabies and absolutely adored each one of them. But most importantly, Lesa loved Jesus with all that she was. Even in the midst of sorrow, we find joy in knowing that she is at home with her Heavenly Father.

Lesa is preceded in death by her biological father, David Lee Stephens.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Edwards; mother, Joan G. Gourley Martin; father, Quinten “Buck” Martin and his wife Liz; stepmother, Faye Rosser and her husband, Paul; son, Justin Edwards and his wife, Kristal Dawn; daughters, Alexandria “Allie” Barnett, Kristi Clapp and her husband Randal, Kasey Hunt and her husband Nolan; grandchildren, Carter Barnett, Kinslee Barnett, Rozlyn Clapp, Abran Clapp, Lila Clapp, Lincoln Edwards, Gannon Edwards, Collins Hunt, Maylee Hunt, Turner Hunt; brothers, Samuel Martin, Mike Stephens and his wife Patty, Tim Stephens and his wife Marley, Alan Stephens and his wife Shannon, Phil Stephens, Steve Williams; sisters, Yvonne “Cissy” Estes, Selena Childers, Amy Wood and her husband Matt, Angie Thomas and her husband Lamar, Amanda Bain and her husband Ryan; mother-in-law, Lila Edwards; brother-in-law, Alan Edwards and his wife Donna; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

Redan Bapist Church and the Redan community held a special place in Lesa’s heart. It is her wish to be buried in the Redan Baptist Church Cemetery. Services will be held at Redan Baptist Church on Thursday, August 13, 2020, at 2 p.m., with Brother Dewan Reese officiating. Lesa will lie in state an hour prior to services. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Mike Stephens, Tim Stephens, Alan Stephens, Phil Stephens, Alan Edwards, and Justin Edwards will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Samuel Martin, Carter Barnett, and Kinslee Barnett.  Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday evening, August 12, 2020, from 6 p.m., until 8 p.m., at Holly Pond Funeral Home.
