Fred P. Morris, of Holly Pond, Alabama, passed away on November 16, 2025, at the age of 87. Mr. Morris was born on March 22, 1938, in Blount County, Alabama.
Fred is preceded in death by his mother, Pauline Latta Morris and his brother, Clyde Morris.
Mr. Morris is survived by his adoring wife of sixty-four years, Fran Morris; son, Fred Paul Morris II, known as Freddie, and his wife, Belinda; grandchildren, Brittney Beckmann and husband Johnny, Brandon Sanders, Ky Nelson and wife June, Christian Nelson and wife Jessica, Bethany Nelson and fiancé Steve; sixteen great-grandchildren; brother, Wayne Morris and wife Gearl; sister-in-law, Sue Morris; and a host of loving family and friends.
Fred was a member of Redan Missionary Baptist Church where he and his family worshipped our Savior alongside their friends and neighbors.
Mr. Morris was a man of dedication and sacrifice serving his nation honorably for over twenty-two years in the United States Army. Fred received the National Defense Service Medal, the Bronze Star, the Vietnam Service Medal, six Good Conduct Medals, a Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Gallantry Cross, and was an accomplished marksman qualifying with a .45 Cal Pistol. Among other tours of duty, Mr. Morris’s career included assignments in Germany, Vietnam, and Korea. Retiring as a Seargent First Class, Fred’s service to our great nation speaks of a man driven by honor and commitment, and we will forever be grateful for his sacrifice and service to our country and its people.
While Mr. Morris was a dedicated soldier, he was also a man who enjoyed life. Fred never met a stranger and insisted he was just “Fred” or “Paw Paw” and was not to be called Mr. Morris, even if you just met him. Fred had a contagious fun-loving spirit, and he enjoyed joking and kidding with people. If you spent any time at all in his presence you were sure to find yourself laughing along with him.
Fred was a loving husband to his wife, an adoring father to his son, a proud grandfather and great-grandfather to his babies. Mr. Morris knew the joy of God’s many blessings and he cherished the family he had been given. His family will miss him greatly, but his legacy of sacrifice, commitment, and laughter will be remembered for generations to come.
