Mrs. Gladys served the people of her beloved Holly Pond for many years.

Gladys Mae Crumbley Wisener entered heaven on Sunday evening, June 28, 2026, at the age of 80. Gladys was born in Cullman County, Alabama, on May 25, 1946, to the late Samuel Strone and Mildred Ruth Burrow Crumbley.

Mrs. Wisener is preceded in death by her parents. Her memory will be cherished by her beloved husband, Norman Wisener; sons, Chris Wisener (Tarron), Jeff Wisener; granddaughter, Mattie Wisener; siblings, Jesse, Sammy, and Suzie; a host of nieces and nephews; and many dear friends and neighbors.

As a pillar of her community, Mrs. Gladys served the people of her beloved Holly Pond for many years. She was the Holly Pond School Lunchroom Manager for more than twenty years where she fed and loved hundreds of children every day. Mrs. Gladys taught us that a plate of fries was not a balanced meal, nobody needs twenty-five packets of ketchup at a time, and that hiding an extra chicken sandwich under your fries was in fact stealing. Even though her position meant trying to keep us all in line, we all knew that none of the hundreds of children in her care would ever go hungry, lunch money or not. Gladys had a heart for people, and part of her love language was making sure the school’s children were fed - and that they knew how to mop up their own spilled milk.

After her retirement from the lunchroom, Mrs. Gladys began her political career where she served as a Holly Pond Town Councilwoman for many years. Gladys helped to better our community through her council seat as well as her service to others through both the Homemaker Club and the Civitan Club. Mrs. Wisener spent countless hours at bake sales and fundraisers alongside the Homemakers of Holly Pond helping raise money for the upkeep of Holly Pond Cemetery. And she sold and delivered truckloads of onions and fruitcakes to raise money for community projects done on behalf of Civitan International. Mrs. Gladys was also a member of Holly Pond First Baptist Church.

Her legacy of devotion and service will be remembered by many for generations to come.

While Gladys gave of herself with abandon to her friends and neighbors in the Holly Pond area, she was also serving her family at home as a devoted and loving wife and mother. Gladys and Norman were married sixty-two years and raised two sons together. Gladys helped work the farm and made sure Norman didn’t have anything to worry about as far as the household was concerned. She enjoyed her boys’ friends being on the farm, and she fed and loved them as her own. Gladys was a child of God and her heart for others was clearly seen in her care for both her community and her family. Her legacy of devotion and service will be remembered by many for generations to come.

Friends are invited to join the Wisener family for visitation on Wednesday evening, July 1, 2026, in the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Wisener will lie in repose on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until services begin in the chapel at 3:00 p.m. Mrs. Gladys will be laid to rest in Holly Pond Cemetery following services.
