James "Paul" Mabrey

James “Paul” Mabrey, 75, of Baileyton passed away at Walker Baptist Medical Center-Jasper, Saturday afternoon, October 18, 2014. He was born in Etowah County to Bursey and Virgie Rascoe Mabrey. He served in the U.S. Army during the Cuban missile crisis, was a cabinet maker and a member of Pan Creek Baptist Church.

Mr. Mabrey was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Dianne Burden and Glenda Mabrey.

He is survived by his wife, Scharlene Waldrop Mabrey; brother-in-law, James Waldrop; sisters-in-law, Myra (Mark) Bland and Betty (Bob) Schlink; nephew and niece, Josh and Stormy Bland; brother, Robert (Ann) Mabrey; sisters, Billie (Corkey) Callahan, Betty (Larry) Thrower and Linda Mabrey Henry; a great-niece, Hope Bland; and several other nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Holly Pond Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Michael Lackey, with burial in Welcome Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mark Bland, Josh Bland, Max Pesnell, Mike Mabrey, Michael Bryant and Elwin Heatherley.

Visitation was held Monday at the funeral home.
