Janet Eva Livingston Winfrey, known to most as Jan, passed away on September 22, 2025, at the age of 65. Jan was born in Blount County, Alabama, on September 18, 1960, to the late John Cleveland Livingston and the late Janice Campbell Livingston.
From an early age, Jan faced many trials with her health, but even in her difficult days, Jan remained upbeat and full of joy. Ms. Winfrey was a caring person, and she was an immense help to her parents and sisters over the years as she channeled her abundance of energy into helping them, often times that included cleaning their homes.
Jan was a loving mother and grandmother. She also adored her little dogs, Diamond and Little Man. Jan’s loving and caring personality brought joy to many people, and she will be remembered for generations to come.
Ms. Winfrey is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roman Winfrey; and brother-in-law, David McArthur.
Those left to cherish Jan’s memory includes her daughters, Jana Kay Winfrey (Vester Twitty), Leigha Shay Winfrey; sisters, Pamela Gaddy (Ricky), Brenda McArthur; grandchildren, Destiny Musgrove, Alexis McAlpine, Riker Callaway, Pheonix Callaway, Xander Callaway, Grayson Callaway; great-grandson, Waylen Cash Wakefield; special nephews, Michael Phares, Ronnie Phares; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to join the family on Thursday evening, September 25th, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. for a time of visitation. Funeral services for Ms. Winfrey will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 26th, 2025, Jason Williams officiating. Both visitation and funeral services will be held at Livingston Tabernacle in Hanceville, Alabama.
