Jeannette Eudy Balint, of New Harmony, Alabama, formerly of Joppa, Alabama, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026, at the age of 93. Jeannette was born on October 23, 1932, in Cullman County, Alabama, to the late Earl and Almeda Eudy.

Jeannette was a strong, hardworking woman who spent her life caring for her family and those around her. She grew up farming and working at her father’s nursery, North Cullman County Nursery, in Joppa, Alabama, for many years. She later worked at SCI in Huntsville, Alabama, and continued there when they opened a plant in Arab, Alabama. She worked there for nearly 19 years until the plant closed in 2001.

To her family, Jeannette was the heart of the home. We never had much, but because of Mom, we never went without. No matter how hard times were, there was always a prepared meal on the table. She worked hard to make sure her family was fed, cared for, and loved. She gave what she had and somehow always managed to make sure everyone else had enough.

After retiring, Jeannette enjoyed traveling across the country, making memories in Arkansas, Missouri, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. She later spent time sitting with the elderly and helping clean houses, always finding a way to stay busy and help others.

Jeannette loved to cook and was always making food for everyone. She especially loved hosting the entire family for Thanksgiving and Christmas, filling the table with more food than anyone could possibly eat. Those meals were about much more than food—they were about family, laughter, and being together.

She loved Alabama football and had a special appreciation for seeing a basketball go through the hoop with a satisfying “swish”—nothing but net. She loved working in her garden and flower beds and enjoyed feeding and watching the birds and hummingbirds.

Jeannette also loved music and spent many happy evenings singing karaoke at the Legion in Guntersville, Alabama, surrounded by a host of friends who affectionately gave her the nickname “Sunshine.” The name suited her well. She had a personality that could light up a room.

She was funny, outspoken, and flat-out blunt. She always said exactly what was on her mind, and she had many expressions that her family will forever remember. Those sayings, her sense of humor, and the way she could make her grandchildren smile and laugh will continue to bring smiles and laughter for years to come.

Jeannette is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Almeda Eudy; her son, James “Jim” Earl Turner; and her brothers, Cecil J. “CJ” Eudy and Herbert Eudy.

Those left to cherish the many memories made with Jeannette include her sons, John and Wendy Turner and Joey and Kamuelia Balint; grandchildren Jonathon and Michele Turner, Dakota and Halee Holloway, Alexander Balint, and Aiden Balint; great grandchildren Kye Turner, Braxton, Naomi, and Wyatt Boone Holloway.

Jeannette touched the lives of countless people throughout her 93 years. Everyone who knew her knew her strength, her hard work, her generosity, her humor, and her love for her family. She was one of a kind, and there will never be another quite like her.

Her family will miss her more than words can express, but they will carry her with them—in the recipes she made, the gardens she tended, the songs she sang, the sayings she repeated, the laughter she created, and in every family gathering where there will always be a place at the table that belongs to her.

She was our Mom, our grandmother, our Sunshine, and a part of our family that can never be replaced. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
