J.W. "Jake" Kelso

J.W. “Jake” Kelso, 67, of Holly Pond, passed away on Monday, October 29, 2018. He was born June 5, 1951, to Colvin D. and Wille Belle (White) Kelsoe.

Jake was a truck driver by trade and drove for Wal-Mart for over twenty five years. He had retired from trucking and was enjoying life to the fullest. Retirement was the best job he had ever had! Jake loved to socialize and could be found in Holly Pond at either Jack’s or The Front Porch Café, enjoying a meal and socializing with the locals. He traded in the horses he had ridden in earlier years and was often times riding his motorcycle now instead. Jake had taken five trips out west on his bike and loved riding with either his wife or biking buddies. If he wasn’t on his bike, Jake could be found on the couch watching a western, M*A*S*H, or Andy Griffith. He also enjoyed a good game of solitary on his phone. As much as Jake loved retirement, nothing compared to the love he had for his family. He adored his wife, son, and grandchildren. His absence will be felt greatly.

J.W. is preceded in death by his parents, Colvin D. and Wille Belle (White) Kelsoe.

He is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Carol Gilley Kelso; a son, Nick (Rachel) Kelsoe; three grandchildren, Parker Kelsoe, Kara Kelsoe, and Sawyer Kelsoe; sister, Diane Kelsoe Shedd; brother Mike Kelsoe; nephews, Chad Kelsoe, Tyler Kelsoe, Shane Shedd; and a niece, Renea Shedd Sewell.

Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 31, 2018, in the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel, Jeremy Collier officiating. Burial will follow in Union Grove Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
