Kathleen Lovell Mitchell, of Cullman, Alabama, formerly of Holly Pond, Alabama, passed away on August 19, 2026, at the age of 93. Kathleen was born on February 3, 1933, in Cullman County, Alabama, to the late Archie and Mary Lela Taylor Lovell.
Kathleen is preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Lela Lovell; beloved husband of sixty-nine years, James Mitchell; brothers, Luther Lovell, Marvin Lovell, Troy Lovell, Darrell Lovell; and her sisters, Alma Crumbley, Mary Plunkett, Mozell Holly, and Inez Rucker.
She is survived by her brother-in-law and his wife, Marvin and Polly Mitchell; a host of adored nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
Ms. Kathleen worked many years for Sea Ray Boat as a seamstress. She and her late husband, James, were members of Brooklyn Methodist Church where they enjoyed worshipping alongside family and friends. Kathleen had a beautiful voice, and her songs of praise brought joy to those around her. Music was an important part of her life, and she was always singing, listening to music, or even just whistling a tune as she went about her daily chores.
Ms. Mitchell is remembered for her infectious laugh as well as her cooking skills by her nieces and nephews. Kathleen was next to the youngest child in her family and while she did not have any children of her own, she loved and treasured her nieces and nephews as though they were hers. They were a close family, and she was always very involved in their lives, helping them in areas in which they might need her guidance.
Kathleen leaves a legacy of love, friendship, and laughter that will be remembered for generations to come.
Friends are invited to join the family for a time of visitation on Saturday morning, August 22, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until services begin at 11:00 a.m. All services will be held in the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel. Katheleen will be laid to rest in Holly Pond Cemetery following services.
