Leon Louie Harris, 92, of Cullman, Alabama, was welcomed into heaven by our loving Father in the early morning hours of Saturday, March 21, 2026. Leon was born in Cullman, Alabama, on October 14, 1933, to Green and Emily Smith Harris.
Mr. Harris is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, June Cornett Harris; children, Randy, Sandy, and Brenda; brother, Lonnie Harris; sisters, Lovey Golden, Margaret Turner: and dear friend, J.C. Cornelius.
Those left to cherish the memory of Leon includes his daughter, Sonya Segers (David); sister, Marie Plunkett; grandchildren, Tiffany Blocker (Justin), Holley Harville (Wesley), Dawson Segers (Caidyn), Taylor Bonnett (Justin); great-grandchildren, Audrey, Easton, Kayla, Hudson, Adella, Karson, Wyatt, Fletcher, Brynlee, Jettson, Grayson, Britton; dear friend, Barbara Cornelius; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Harris worked as a machine operator for Daubert Chemical and Paper Products for more than thirty years. During that time, he was also serving alongside his wife as a selfless caregiver for their daughter, Brenda. Mr. Harris cherished his family and his love for them was evident in all that he did. Leon was also an adoring father and grandfather to his daughter, Sonya, and her girls.
June and Leon were married for over sixty-six years, and when June fell ill, Leon became her caregiver without complaint. His love for his family was second only to his love for his Savior, and his servant heart was a true example of the love of Christ. As long as their health allowed, Leon and June were faithful members at Roswell Creek Church, and Mr. Harris was baptized in Duck Creek as a sign of his salvation in Christ Jesus.
Mr. Harris enjoyed tending his vegetable garden. He also enjoyed fishing and woodworking. Leon made beautiful birdhouses in his free time, and there wasn’t a small engine he was unable to repair.
Although he had many talents, Leon will be best remembered for his servant heart and his devotion and love for his family. Leon’s example as a Godly and loving husband, father, and grandfather will be cherished by his family for generations to come.
Friends are invited to join the Harris family for visitation on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, in the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel, from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow visitation, beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Justin Blocker and Leonard Slade officiating. Mr. Harris will be laid to rest in Duck River Cemetery, where Justin Blocker, Wesley Harville, David Segers, Bo Golden, Easton Blocker, Byron Cornett, and Dawson Segers will serve as pallbearers.
Holly Pond Funeral Home is honored to serve the Harris family.
