Melvin McClendon

Mr. Melvin Lee McClendon, 84 of Blountsville, AL passed away early Friday morning, May 5, 2017 at Folsom Center in Cullman.

Mr. McClendon was born in Cullman County to Thomas Claude and Willie Mae Patterson McClendon. He was predeceased by his parents, a daughter, Jerry Ellen McClendon; brother, Edward McClendon; sisters, Mildred Griffin, and Doris Hinkle.

He worked as a machinist and was self employed. He was of the Baptist faith, was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, and a cherished friend and neighbor. 

Mr. McClendon is survived by his wife of 64 years, Wilma Dean Self McClendon; daughters, Jan (Jim) Haynes, Patsy (Tony) Price; sister, Desma Stephens; 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Service for Mr. McClendon will be Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. at Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel with burial at New Lebanon Cemetery, Blountsville, AL. Visitation will be Sunday from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to New Lebanon Cemetery.
