Nellie Sue Harris Bice, age 95, of the Walter community passed away May 20, 2025, at the Hanceville Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., at Duck River Baptist Church, Saturday, May 24, 2025. Ms. Bice’s body will lie in state from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. with pastor Caleb Elrod officiating services. Friends are invited to visit with the Bice family on Friday evening, May 23, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel.
Nellie Sue is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Layton Bice; her parents, Vesta and Alpha Goodson Harris; two brothers, Raymond (Helen) Harris, Robert (Francis) Harris; four sisters, Eleanor (WT) Bonner, Ruth (Handley) Duke, Mildred (Leonard) Bonner, Earline (Charles) Armstrong.
Nellie Sue is survived by a son, Ronald Bice; a daughter, Evelyn White; six grandchildren, Kim (Steve) Parris, Kelly (Michael) Wade, Katie Bice, April (Rebecca) Miller, Kevin White, Brian (Tracie) White; eleven great-grandchildren, Maci (Dylan) Earnest, Ally Parris, Jordan (Joshua) Rhodes, Garrett (McKenzie) Wade, Brody Wade, Seth Wigginton, Jace Wigginton, Ethan Wigginton, Tyler Wigginton, Brie Miller, Lexi (Conner) Gurley; three great-great-grandchildren, Eleanor Earnest, Emelia Earnest, and Easton Earnest.
Mamma Sue, as the family called her, was a true farmers wife. She liked to work in her garden growing vegetables and canning as long as she was able.
Dementia took its toll in her last years. She will be missed by all.
