Ollie Alton Murphree

Ollie Alton Murphree, 67, of Cullman, left the loving arms of his family and entered into the presence of his Heavenly Father on Sunday, October 21, 2018. Mr. Murphree was born in Cullman County to Oscar Talmadge “Bunk” and Lessie Lyles Murphree on April 1, 1951.

Alton was a jack of all trades: there was not anything he could not do. He was a grounds keeper, auto mechanic, carpenter, gardener of both flowers and vegetables, antique collector and much more. His love of flowers led to a membership of the Wildflower Association. Alton was a husband, father, grandfather and best friend. He loved his Savior, treasured his wife, and adored his daughter and grandchildren. His passing leaves an emptiness in the life of many.

Mr. Murphree was welcomed home by his parents, Bunk and Lessie Murphree, and several siblings.

He is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Anita Jackson Murphree; daughter, Allison Taylor; grandchildren, Cloey and Landan Taylor; brother Zelter (Debbie) Murphree; sisters, Melba (Robert) Harris, Willodean (John) Bolzle; brother-in-law, Buddy Cole; sister-in-laws, Marilyn Murphree, Melba Jo (Joe) Federer;  a host of nieces and nephews; and many loving friends.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 2 p.m. in the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Steve Bryan officiating. Friends may visit with the family, preceding services, from noon until the service begins. Burial will follow in Oak Level Cemetery. Bryan Hollis, Seth Murphree, Rex Harris, Tony Harris, Cody McGriff, and Howard Cole are honored to serve as pallbearers for Mr. Murphree.
