Shannon "Sissy" Sue Peters

Shannon “Sissy” Sue Peters, 71, of Holly Pond, passed on to her heavenly home August 6, 2024. She was born October 11, 1952, in Opp, Alabama, to James Otis “Pete” and Mary H. Peters.

Shannon worked as a volunteer at Parkside School. She was a member of Life Gate Baptist Church. Shannon loved her family and friends with her whole heart.

Ms. Peters is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her sister and sidekick, Shelia Grace; nephews, Chad Hoke (Amanda), Cory Hoke (Paige), Jarred Grace (Nicole); great-nephew, Elliot “Monkey” Cobb; great-nieces, Ensley Cobb, Rheagan Knutson; and her best friend and cat companion, Saylor.

Friends are invited to join the family for a time of visitation on Friday, August 9, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m., with Jeff Mims officiating. All services will be held in the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel. Chad Hoke, Cory Hoke, Jarred Grace, Timmy Grace, Roger Greene, and Ronnie Greene will serve as pallbearers with Elliot “Monkey” Cobb serving as honorary pallbearer. Ms. Peters will be laid to rest in New Home Cemetery.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Hospice of North Alabama, Michelle Simmons, and Kelley Dearman for their loving care.
