William Woodrow Underwood

William Woodrow Underwood, 79, of Holly Pond passed away on Monday, November 25, 2019. He was born March 24, 1940, to James Batch and Mattie Beatrice Chappell Underwood, in Blount County.

Mr. Underwood was a veteran, having served in the United States Army. After returning home, Woody drove a truck to provide for his family, but his true desire was to be a fulltime farmer.

Mr. Underwood is preceded in death by his parents, James Batch and Mattie Beatrice Chappell Underwood; and a sister, Peggy Haynes.

He is survived by his wife, Fay Delores Duskin Underwood; son, Jeffery Alan Underwood; daughters, Sharon Pinyan, and son-in-law, Sam Pinyan, Barbara Underwood; sisters, Overa Twilley, Sue Wilson; grandchildren, Cody Underwood, and wife Latosha, Shayne Pinyan, and wife Kourtney, Kimberly Thomas, and husband, Michael; and great-grandchildren, Ava Mae, Allie Kate, and Ashlyn Grace.

Funeral services for Mr. Underwood are 2 p.m., Friday, November 29, 2019, in the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Underwood will lie in state an hour prior to services, from 1 p.m., until services begin. Burial will follow in Holly Pond Cemetery. Cody Underwood, Shayne Pinyan, Brian Haynes, Tony Haynes, Curtis Bice, and Michael Thomas will serve as pallbearers. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
